Our Mission
To improve the health of individuals, families and communities by ensuring pathways to health services for Pierce County residents in need.
Our Story
In 2006, local physicians affiliated with the Pierce County Medical Society had a dream to address the critical need for lowering barriers to equitable health. In 2009, that dream became a reality. These caring doctors reached out to local hospitals and free clinics to establish a comprehensive Donated Care Network comprised of primary care physicians, specialists and ancillary providers who were willing to donate their services.
Today, Pierce County Project Access (PCPA) has grown to encompass over 650 providers who donate their services through our Donated Care Program, and we now include a Premium Assistance Program that covers the cost of health insurance premiums for individuals purchasing insurance through the Washington Health Benefits Exchange. Our Premium Assistance initiative seeks to lower barriers by offering financial support to low- to moderate-income families, covering the monthly premiums for Silver-Level Qualified Health Plans in Washington.
PCPA strives to bridge the healthcare coverage divide created by social determinants, by connecting our patients to essential medical care and services through our programs. Collaborating closely with health system leaders, community clinics, referral partners and providers, we ensure that linguistically and culturally appropriate care is available to all, regardless of race, ethnicity, creed, orientation, or documentation status.
